The author of this study collected information in 1981/1982 on the development of dairy cooperatives, legislative aspects, organization, management structure, financing, etc. in an impressive number of countries: Austria, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Germany (F.R.), Denmark, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, India, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Sweden, USA. For some countries, the case studies were compiled with the assistance of FAD: Burma, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Philippines, Thailand.
