ICAR-IDF Wiki guidelines - Body Condition Scoring (BCS)

The International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR) and IDF have jointly developed a set of technical articles, published on the ICAR Wiki, addressing the use of sensor data in dairy cattle systems.

This guideline provides harmonised standards and recommendations for the recording, interpretation and use of body condition scoring (BCS) in dairy cattle, supporting improved herd management, genetic evaluation and animal health and welfare monitoring across diverse systems.

The guidelines are designed as living documents and will continue to be updated as new knowledge, technologies, and validation approaches evolve.
