Dairy & lactose intolerance

Contrary to the common notion that people who are sensitive to lactose must avoid milk and milk products, many can still consume a glass of milk without any significant symptoms. It is even possible to increase one's ability to digest lactose by gradual re-introduction of lactose which could result in an increase in the ability of intestinal bacteria to metabolize lactose, thus reducing the likelihood of diarrhoea and other symptoms.
