Dairy & hypertension
Hypertension, otherwise known as high blood pressure, affects millions of people around the world. Researchers behind what has come to be known as the “Dash Diet” (Dietary Approaches to Stopping Hypertension) thought that it would be ideal if they could find some sort of dietary pattern that would bring blood pressure back to normal and avoid the need for drugs. The DASH study found that a diet with eight servings of fruits and vegetables decreased blood pressure compared to a typical "Western" diet. However, when adding low fat milk/milk products to these veggie-enhanced diets blood pressure decreased even more.
