Publication description
This bulletin of the IDF presents the report of the precision data obtained from the multi-laboratory study and the interlaboratory study (ILS) organized for the revision of ISO 29981 | IDF 220:2010, Milk products — Enumeration of presumptive bifidobacteria — Colony count technique at 37 degrees C. From the result of the multi-laboratory study conducted ahead of ILS, it has been agreed that 48 h incubation as an alternative and TOS agar for only bifidobacteria-containing matrices are added in this method. ILS was organized in the harmonisation with ISO/TC 34/SC 9 (Food products - Microbiology). ILS was conducted using three food types; yoghurt, powdered formula and starter and probiotic culture, by collaborators participated from Europe and Japan in 2023, according to the Draft International Standard (DIS) version of ISO 29981 | IDF 220. The data of ILS has been analysed and accepted, therefore statistical data of ILS have been incorporated into ISO 29981 | IDF 220.
